Schutzhund, or IPO, is the ultimate test for working line dogs. It includes tracking, obedience, and protection. With over 30 years of experience, Kris is a well-known Schutzhund coach, mentor, and world competitor. He has helped many clients achieve SchH3 and has represented the USA on the world team. Schutzhund was originally developed in Germany as a breed suitability test for the German Shepherd Dog and has remained the gold standard for the breed and working line dogs for over 100 years, ensuring overall stability and quality of the breed. Although developed as a breed test, Schutzhund has evolved into a worldwide sport with teams representing several countries. The sport is built on obedience and control of a dog’s instincts and drive, resulting in dogs that compete in the sport becoming safe, stable companions at home or in public. Because of this stability, they are excellent in crowded public places, with children, or when protecting their handlers.
